Charm Bracelet's

Charm Bracelet's make me happy.

Charm bracelet's are gorgeous thing's. I really like making my own out of quirky one off pieces that I find and collect.

This is one I made recently. I really love the lamb charm Which is just a plastic toy lamb from a farm toy collection which I put a hole and jump ring through to make a charM. The yellow sickle is from a car boot sale (I had to rummage deep to find this) the pink vile is a Harry Potter Lego piece. I used to adore Harry Potter Lego, and built my own castle and surrounding buildings that were my interpretation of Hogwarts when I was younger. The skeleton foot is from a Simpson's magazine where they gave away a free build your own skeleton. The iron is from an old Monopoly game, and the other pieces were just in one of my jars full of plastic-y rubbish (which I love and don't really think are rubbish).

 This bracelet is a vintage one that my mum got for me from another car boot sale. It's beautiful but kept breaking. I took it apart and replaced the jump rings so now it still has it's lovely old look, but is now wearable!

Ive already posted about this particular charm bracelet, but I thought it should be included in this post as it is beautiful and part of my now expanding collection. It was my Grandma's and is very special to me!

And finally this piece which I made for college. Were doing a project about a journey, and these are all thing's I found on my journey, including fag ends, ring pulls, cap gun plastics etc. I really like how it turned out!

I love the colour of the pink vile! And it reminds me of the hours I used to spend building Lego things :)

My Creations

 I made these using the same technique as I demonstrated in the other post earlier, but these were made using a circular pin opposed to the vertical type. I use old and new beads to make the pieces, and use vintage charms from broken jewelry.

 These were made using the straight pin, but I bent the end to hold the hearts in place. (These are my mums favourite).

 I love the colours of these ones.

 These charms were from a flea market selling old broken jewelry in box's ( It was my dream come true finding them)!

 The are quite retro and 60's looking I think.

Lastly these were inspired my Smurfette after I saw Katy Perry's dress for the smurfs premiere.

DIY Earring's

 Today I made a simple D.I.Y of how to make your own earring's. I love earrings but sometimes I'm fussy with the ones in the shops, and they can also be quite expensive, so this DIY is useful for making your own original style earring's.

Supplies - These pliers I used are awful, ideally you should invest in some thinner jewelry specific ones, but these do work, it's just a bit more awkward.

1) Pliers

2) Gold or silver earring Pins/Needles.

3) Gold or silver Earring heads.

4) A selection of colourful beads.

(You can purchase jewelry making equipment very cheaply from Amazon or your local Craft store e.g HobbyCraft)

Step 1.) Use your jewelry needle/pin and thread your desired beads onto it. This is the best part for me, as I love choosing colour combination's. Remember you need to have two of every bead for the earrings to be symmetrical (unless you want them to be different, which could be pretty cool too).

Step 2.) Make a replica of the first earring, and make sure you leave roughly 6-8mm space at the top of the earring for the next step.

 

Step 3.) Then you need to use your pliers to bend the top of the earrings into a loop shape. This will be used to attach the earring head. You need to make sure it is tightly closed or the earring could become unattached later. 

 Step 4.) Now you need to open the hoop at the bottom of the earring head with the pliers, which will enable you to attatch the earring to it.

 Step 5.) Lastly, you need to slip the hoop from the earring pin onto the earring head, and use the pliers to close the hoop tight. And there you have it, a simple pair of earrings in 5 easy steps.

 This is probably very wrong according to the 'How to make jewlery properly book', but it works for me, and hopefully may inspire you to make some for yourself !

New additions

 After Christmas some new additions have joined my earring collection. I love colour, feathers, beads, food themes, and anything a bit quirky and different.

 My mum bought these lovely cherry earrings from Hannah makes things (they have some really cool jewellery) I love the colour, and the kitsch feel to them.

They came wrapped in this tissue paper, with a little packet of Parma violets - so cute.

This is one of my favourite pieces from their site, along with the flamingo earrings I posted last month.

Katy Perry Concert #3

 Monday night I went to see Katy Perry.... again!!!!! As expected she was wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Before the concert my parents and I went for THE nicest steak I have ever eaten at Gaucho's. It was so so good! Rare Fillet as always, with salad and chips, followed by chocolate truffles and desert wine, yummy.

  I now have a Katy Perry ring, poster and concert T-shirt, which is necessary after the amount of times I’ve been. Sadly this is now the final time, at least for this album anyway!

 Also, I am now the proud owner of a proper charm bracelet. I'm not really a Pandora girl, and this one is much more personal. It was my grandma's and the chain was made from my Great Grandfather's watch chain, so it's pretty special. I personally like the pig. 

Beaded Necklace

Today I made this necklace. I used cut up straws, thick wooden beads from Hobbycraft and some other bits and pieces I had in my art room. I just love the brightness and colours, though I think it will have to be matched with something quite simple as it is quite a bold piece. For the string itself I used fishing wire which is very strong and perfect to use for beads.

And of course Harrison had to be on the scene for the photographs! I feel a little neglectful to our lovely doggies at the moment; I have only blogged about the cat. Oh well I'm sure they'll appear here soon enough.
